ANNOUNCEMENT FROM AIKEN COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY

Elevator out of serviceThe elevator at the Aiken County Public Library will be taken out of service beginning Monday, October 17, for interior refurbishment and upgrades to its electrical system.

During this time, the first and second floors of the Library will be accessible only by stair. While the elevator is inoperable, library staff will make every reasonable accommodation to provide service to patrons who are dependent on the elevator for mobility.

Patrons are encouraged to visit any of five library branch locations in Aiken County, all of which are accessible. Branch libraries are located in Jackson, Langley, New Ellenton, North Augusta, and Wagener. For hours of operation and directions, visit the LIBRARY LOCATIONS section of the library's website.

"We are hoping the work will be complete and the elevator back in service in less than a month," said Aiken-Bamberg-Barnwell-Edgefield Regional Library Director Mary Jo Dawson. "Until then, our staff will work diligently to minimize the inconvenience for patrons."

ART PRINTS ON SALE AT AIKEN COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY
In recognition of the Library’s fresh coat of paint, The Friends of the Aiken Public Library present three special art prints that depict our historic building. The prints, which are on display on the second floor, are available for sale at reduced pricing this month. All 3 prints may be purchased for $10. Individual prints can also be purchased separately.

E-BOOKS ON THE CLOUD LIBRARY KIOSK
Cloud Library Kiosk

A Cloud Library Kiosk has been installed at the Aiken County Public Library. It allows library users a fun, interactive way to browse and discover digital content right in the library. The large touch screen shows shelves of e-books and subject lists. There are also tools which can be used to search for specific content.

You can check out books to your account where they will be waiting for download to your smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer. All the titles are available on the Cloud Library portion of the ABBE Digital Branch.

The Aiken Friends of the Library Sponsor Amazon Wish List
The Friends of the Aiken County Public Library invite patrons to make a wish come true by purchasing a new book, CD, or DVD for the Aiken County Public Library through the Amazon.com’s Wish List program. Patrons can use the Wish List link from either the library or the Friends’ website to see the items on the library’s wish list. The Amazon Wish List consists of high-quality books and audio-visual materials selected by library staff. Due to the budget cuts in State funding, the library is not otherwise able to afford these titles.

When a patron buys the items on the library’s Amazon.com Wish List, they are mailed to the library’s processing center. As an added perk, patrons who purchase wish list items for the Aiken County Public Library may choose to be the first to check them out by entering a note in the "gift option" section.

All donations are tax deductible as the law allows. Donors are advised to keep their receipts from Amazon.com in order to take advantage of tax deductions.
